                                           VISAS

Student VisaThe student visa is the M1 visa. This visa is valid for up to one year for your flight training. Your length of stay will depend upon the course you choose. There is also ample time for any unforeseen delays.

Exchange Visitor Visa - J1: For the Professional program only. A J1 visa will be issued to you that is valid for 2 years. There is a $1,000 (non-refundable) fee to administer the J1 visa for the 2-year period. This visa allows you to stay in the United States after completion of your training in order to work as a flight instructor, gain practical experience and build hours towards your ATP.

We have compiled a useful checklist for you if you are planning to join us at the flight training center.

1. Fill out the 'Application For Enrollment' on this web site.

2. Please check the box requesting Visa Application. A Visa Application will then be mailed to you.

3. Enclose the following with your application form:

a. A money order or cashier's check from your bank in the amount of $250.00 (non-refundable) for processing costs.

b. A statement from your bank confirming that you have enough funds available to finance your training and living expenses during your stay in the United States. You will need two of these: One to send to us and the other to forward to the United States Embassy when we send you your visa application form.

c. Copies of your education records. (We have to ensure that you can read, speak and understand the English language). If you have a pilot’s license, send a copy of your license and latest page in your logbook stating your flight time. After receiving the necessary information, ATA Flight School will send you a visa application form which you will need to schedule an appointment with the U.S. embassy in your own country so that they can issue you a student visa (M1), or an exchange visitor visa (J1). Along with your visa application (I-20 or DS-2019) you must also take the following with you.

1. Your unexpired passport

2. Visa application form (other than the I-20 or DS-2019)

3. A statement from your bank stating that you have enough money to finance whichever flight training course you wish to study and to cover your living expenses while in the United States.

4. An envelope with your name, address and enough postage to send it by registered mail. Please contact the embassy for further requirements and their fees.
